So, kick off your shoes, sample our delicious food, choose your favourite room and imagine relaxing with Glenmorangie’s finest single malt whisky in the heart of the Highlands of Scotland.

Glenmorangie House is our Highland home and our guests tell us it feels like visiting the house of a friend, not like a hotel. Relaxing our guests is something we excel at and the stunningly beautiful gardens and surrounding countryside, combined with the tranquil but luxurious House, filled with characterful touches and Scottish comfort, natural woods and roaring fires, will give you a warm feeling from the minute you open the front door.

The House is on the Ross-shire peninsula, not far from the Distillery in Tain. Make sure you take some time to explore the grounds of the House, and surroundings. Walk through the walled garden or take the green path leading to the beach and enjoy a stroll along white, sandy shores.

Our Head Chef, John Wilson

John Wilson’s cooking career has seen him develop his skills throughout Scotland, from the renowned Crofter’s Bar in Fort William to Orocco Pier nestled under the Forth Rail Bridge on the outskirts of Edinburgh as well as the  BBC Scotland Headquarters in the heart of Glasgow.  He joined Glenmorangie House in 2013 as Sous Chef, becoming Head Chef at that start of 2016

One of John’s philosophies is using and being inspired by local foods and celebrating their flavours. His work now focuses on creating dishes that enhance the enjoyment of Glenmorangie single malt whisky

Distillery :

The Glenmorangie Distillery was founded in 1843 when a licence was granted to William Matheson to distil whisky. He chose to buy tall gin stills instead of onion-shaped whisky stills and the extra height allows only the lightest, purest, vapours to reach the top, contributing to Glenmorangie’s distinctive complexity, smoothness and layered flavour.

Glenmorangie is made with the benefit of the hard, crystal clear water of Tarlogie Springs which starts as soft Scottish rain, spends a century filtering through limestone then bubbles up close to the Glenmorangie Distillery to be made into whisky.

The Men of Tain are the backbone of the distillery, dedicated craftsmen who turn barley and the pure water of Tarlogie Springs into delicate, delicious Glenmorangie.

Today Glenmorangie single malt whisky is world famous, and has won a multitude of prestigious awards for the quality of its expressions.

And Glenmorangie House is the ideal place to experience Glenmorangie Original Single Malt Whisky, on the land where it is made, with the people who helped to make it. A unique experience for any whisky lover and the most wonderful introduction for those who are new to the joys of the perfect single malt.

Whiskey Tasting & Tour :

If you’re new to Whisky, we can arrange a tasting session for you to discover the depth, complexity and the joys of single malt whisky. Discovering how to “nose” will augment your appreciation of this fine Scottish art form, and unlike wine tasting, swallowing is fully approved of in whisky tasting circles.

Guests to the distillery can see first hand how Glenmorangie is distilled and expertly matured in fine oak casks.

Golf :

Scotland is the Home of Golf, where the game was first invented. Some of the Scottish Highland’s finest golf links can be found on the Ross-shire peninsula.
