Ardgowan Hotel , St. Andrews – 3 Star

The Ardgowan was designed by the famous Scottish architect, George Rae, and was built in 1847. Now a family run hotel, The Ardgowan comprises of 29 comfortable en suite bedrooms across the two adjoining Georgian town houses. The Pilmour Hotel, located just next door, dates from 1820 and has a further 7 en suite bedrooms.

All of our 36 bedrooms have tea/coffee making facilities, digital television/radio, FREE Wi-Fi, telephone, hair dryer. A same day wash and fold laundry service is also provided at the charge of £13.95 per bag of laundry.

Junior Classic Double Room

There are six junior double bedded rooms in the hotel, all with an en-suite shower room. These rooms have a 4′ 6” double bed and are smaller than our classic rooms, making them ideal for a business trip or a short weekend break. Pillow-top Hypnos beds 

Junior Classic Twin Room

There are four junior twin rooms in the hotel. Each has two comfortable single beds with an en-suite shower room. These rooms are smaller than our classic rooms, making them ideal for a shorter stay. Pillow-top Hypnos beds

Standard Classic Twin or King Room

There are thirteen classic rooms in the hotel. Each can be set as two comfortable single beds or one king size double bed. All rooms have an en-suite shower room, and are large enough for a golfing break or a longer stay. Pillow-top Hypnos beds

Deluxe Room

The hotel has four Deluxe rooms, which can sleep up to 4 people. Each has either three comfortable single beds or one king bed with a single bed, with a pull out bed for the 4th guest. All rooms have an en-suite shower room, and a bath can be requested subject to availability. Pillow-top Hypnos beds

Classic Single Room

Although other rooms can be used for single use we do have three set rooms for singles in the Ardgowan and in the Pilmour. The rooms have a comfortable single bed and an en-suite shower room. Pillow-top Hypnos beds

Pilmour Twin/Double Room

We have six rooms located in the building directly next door to us, rooms can be set as two comfortable single beds or one king bed with a en-suite shower room. Pillow-top Hypnos beds

Playfair’s Restaurant

Our restaurant is set back from North Street by our own south facing terrace and enjoys an excellent reputation for top quality, freshly prepared food. All of our menus have a Scottish twist and our dishes celebrate the best in local and seasonal produce wherever possible.

Playfair’s Bar is located in The Pilmour Hotel and serves a fantastic bar menu prepared by our team of chefs. The bar is a great place to relax or watch sport, with our 7 big screens and wonderful team of staff.
