Foyle’s Hotel Clifden, Connemara’s longest established hotel, situated in the picturesque town of Clifden, has been owned and managed by the Foyle family for nearly a century.

This impressive building, which has played host to many famous personalities over the years, has recently been redesigned to the highest modern standards, yet retains much of its old charm and atmosphere.

Foyles Hotel Clifden is the ideal central point from which to explore Connemara and enjoy the many amenities it has to offer. The 18-hole championship golf course is 15 minutes drive from the hotel, with a beautiful sandy beach running alongside the course. Deep sea fishing is available from Clifden Harbour and arrangements can be made for fresh water fishing and also for horse riding.
For those of you with Motorbikes or bicycles, we have secure off street parking at the rear of the Hotel.

Marconi Restaurant

The Marconi Restaurant is our restaurant specializing in seafood. A major part of the Foyle’s Hotel’s reputation is based on the excellence of it’s cuisine. As a dining venue the hotel is acclaimed Local and overseas visitors alike. Mouthwatering beef, world-renowned Irish salmon, sea trout and seafood, tender Connemara lamb and fresh vegetables are prepared with meticulous care by internationally experienced chefs. The menus are vast and imaginative, including interesting vegetarian dishes, and all accompanied by an extensive wine list.

Mullarkey’s Bar

Mullarkey’s Bar is one of Clifden’s premier music venues regulary featuring national and international music acts.

Located within Foyle’s Hotel but open to the public (the main entrance for the bar is on Church Hill).

Mullarkey’s Bar offers an interesting blend of hotel guests and local characters and is renowned for its Thursday nights open-mic sessions called Baskethouse, impromptu gigs and all-round good ‘craic’.

We also have a unique Beer Garden, so all our smoking customers can sit down and enjoy their pint in comfort.

 Connemara Golf Links

Golf on the edge of Europe…Connemara Championship Golf Links, the only links course in Co. Galway, is nestled between the scenic splendour of the 12 Bens mountain range and the rugged Atlantic Ocean. This beautiful isolated links course, founded in 1973 and designed by Eddie Hackett lies to the West of Clifden along the Wild Atlantic Ways signature discovery point of Derrigimla Bog and Mannin Bay Blueway. From the testing dog leg opening hole through to the breathtaking back 9, the course is a test for all levels. In 2000 an additional 9 holes were unveiled to add a further dimension to the exhilarating Connemara golfing experience.

When playing Connemara you are always mesmerised by the landscape around you, whether it’s Slyne Head Lighthouse, the 12 Bens Mountains, the Atlantic Ocean or Grainne O’Malleys Castle, there is something special on every hole. The club offers fantastic facilities with a modern clubhouse bar, coffee shop and restaurant, a proshop, practise range and putting green. The proshop has everything you need from golf carts, rental clubs, tuition and all top clothing brands.
